President Muhammadu Buhari has been dragged to the Supreme Court over his refusal to release former PDP leader, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun (SAN), who was arrested last week for allegedly threatening to kill him.
The president had ordered the arrest of the former minister after he was accused of making threats against him.
But the former minister’s lawyers argued that the order was unlawful and unconstitutional, saying it violated their client’s rights under Section 8(1) of the 1999 Constitution.
They said that the order was not based on any law or rule of court and that the government did not have the power to issue it.
